Meme: Pronoun check
Apr. 22nd, 2020 09:04 amI did this on a friend's FB, but in case anyone is curious or wants to participate.
Meme: Pronoun/title/adjective check!
As in, "what I think of these pronouns/titles/adjectives as applied to me"
It/its: Nope
She/her: Yes
He/him: No but I find it amusing when I get mistaken for a dude on the internet, and I'm sometimes deliberately ambiguous about this.
They/them: I don't mind it but it's not me.
Neopronouns (post them): No. There are all sorts of linguistic reasons why I dislike neopronouns, though of course I will use them if someone identifies with them.
Mr: No
Mx: Sure, if someone will tell me how to pronounce it.
Miss: I'm a schoolteacher. I have no choice about this.
Ms: This is my preferred honourific. No period, btw.
Ma'am: Kill it with fucking fire.
Sir: Only if you give me a knighthood.
Mistress: LOL sure.
Captain: I had hoped, upon earning my B.Ed., that I could convince all students to call me O Captain My Captain. Alas, this has not happened, but feel free to refer to me as such.
Dr: I wish I'd advanced far enough in my education to warrant this. However. If I am up to evil and you refer to me as Doktor, that is fine.
Pal, buddy, friend, comrade, folks, etc: Comrade is my preferred. Folks makes me cringe but I try to use it because "guys" is increasingly unacceptable and for some reason they don't like either "comrades" or "foolish mortals" to refer to groups of students.
Dude, bro, bruh: That's fine. I know some people see them as gendered, but I don't.
Sis: Yes, or sister.
Sib: Sure.
Boi: I refer to a lot of things as boi (I just rescued a leggy longboi from my bathtub) but I don't think it applies to me.
Boy: Fuck no.
Girl: Yes, even though it's increasingly less accurate.
Lady/ladies: Grudgingly.
Terms of Endearment (hon, sweetie, darling): Depends on our relationship/whether you're from the American South.
“Feminine” compliments (pretty, beautiful, etc): Again, depends on our relationship. From a friend, yes, from a rando on the street, no.
“Masculine” compliments (handsome, etc): Same.
Neutral compliments (cute, attractive, cool, etc): Absolutely.

Date: 2020-04-23 07:54 pm (UTC)Do you maybe feel like "boi" and "boy" do not apply because you're not a good enough boy? I agree that a lack of a tail is a real obstacle here but I'd say you're a 9/10, would maybe give biscuit
In my head I call everyone "dude" like I'm the bus driver from The Simpsons.

Aww thank you! I think I'm at best a mediocre boy. Not enough fur, for starters.

AS WELL YOU SHOULD
