I hear there was like, some big fumigation of the White House or something today. Hope it went well!!!!
Currently reading: The North-West Is Our Mother: The Story of Louis Riel's People, the Metis Nation by Jean Teillet. SO FUNNY STORY, I saw Teillet speak when I was doing my course, and she was very impressive, and she mentioned that she had a book out the previous year, so I put a hold on what I thought was the book. And that was what I read last week. Which was quite good! But not her book. This is her book. I think I can be forgiven in that two rather important comprehensive books about Louis Riel and Métis history came out in 2019 and she mentioned both of them in her talk. Hence me reading two giant tomes about Métis history in two weeks.
I'm actually finding this one more interesting; it's more of a comprehensive, detailed history than one historian having Strong Words with previous accounts. Teillet is just also a better storyteller, with more vivid descriptions and stronger prose. It covers a much larger scope of history, from the precursors to the Métis Nation to the present day, so less detailed but more relevant so far.
