Living in Ontario is like pressing your face to the window watching everyone else get recess. As an added bonus, your bullies, whose poor behaviour got recess cancelled for everyone, are locked in there with you, still beating the shit out of you.

Everyone hates teachers because in the past, we fought hard for, and gained, substantial wage increases and seniority protect. Personally I think they'd hate us regardless because school is trauma and even though teachers are traumatized by it too, students are obviously more traumatized. So the gov't knows it can continue to demonize it and the public will wank to it.

Exactly. The UK government acted like total assclowns for a year and now is ahead in vaccinations while we all dutifully sit in our flats in FFP masks. It's so infuriating.

Yeah but doesn't the national government have some kind of say? Couldn't they step in? I don't really understand how that system works.

It does kind of, but it's complicated. Like the federal government and the provinces just got into a major tiff that landed in the Supreme Court about carbon taxing and whether the feds have a right to impose a carbon tax on provinces that refuse to do so (like ours lol). The answer was yes but the result was a lot of resentment, and there are definitely provinces—Alberta, Quebec, and lately Ontario—that do not want to do what the Feds say and can cost them votes.
