Happy May Day!

I don't really have a proper post because right now, the class war looks like the blood splashed over the region of Peel. Because May Day was virtual and the last thing I want to do is celebrate on Zoom. Because there is no longer joy or dignity in my own labour.

ETA: Sorry, I may have been a little deadpan in my humour. This is not a literal picture of me. It's from May Day in Ukraine in 1968. It just really captured my mood.

My reason for sitting out May Day/Beltaine today is that I needed to take the Awesome GF for her 2nd shot, and then the ton of bricks that is my own vax reaction dropped solidly on my head. So it's just as well that stuff is still virtual or postponed again this year. Urgh.

It all sucks lots now, and it will suck more before it gets better. It's not fair, it's not right, it's good to be angry, it's good to be sad.

This last year has renewed my optimism in the inevitability of a proletarian revolution. It took everything the capitalists had to hold a revolutionary movement back, and I don't think they've got another one in them.

There will be another pandemic if we continue the world as is. There were nurses who stood in front of traffic to prevent fascists from blocking ambulances. There's no future world where those nurses are greeting the beginnings of the next pandemic with the same willingness to be a part of fixing the problem.

I dunno. My reaction has kind of been the opposite. I'm just seeing people—myself included—give up all hope of a better future because we're spending all of our energy to survive today. Meanwhile the richest and most powerful people are doing well, actually.

I hate to be the cynical piss on everyone's virtual parade, but I don't have tons of hope, you know?
