Just finished: The Colour of Resistance: A Contemporary Collection of Writing by Aboriginal Women, edited by Connie Fife. I thought this was a good read overall, insofar as I don't tend to get into short story and poetry anthologies as much as longer fiction. But there are a number of really excellent writers in here and more importantly, I have some poems to share with my class next semester.
Currently reading: The Affair of the Mysterious Letter by Alexis Hall. This was a recommendation from a friend who knows my taste very well. She was correct (at least so far). It's a Sherlock Holmes pastiche where the Great Detective is a sorceress, Watson is a transmasc alchemist, and Lovecraftian interdimensional horrors abound. Which is already enough to recommend it, to be honest, but the writing is also absolutely hilarious, as the proper and upright and deeply out-of-his-depth narrator attempts to convey the degree to which Ms. Shaharazad Hass absolutely gives no cares (she doesn't say cares, of course, but instead uses a crude term for copulation) and is determine to at best embarrass everyone concerned and at most get everyone devoured by mad gods. It's fairly long, which is good 'cause it's an absolute delight.
