Things that are apparently happening today:

• The release of Slayer's new album
• The release of Ann Coulter's new book
• International Emo Kid Beatdown Day
• International Beat Down and/or Slay Ann Coulter Day

Am I missing anything?

Oh, this:
6/6/6 Readings For The End Of The World Readings by Brian Keene, Gemma Files, Moe Berg, Liisa Ladouceur, apocalypse theory panel w/ Nalo Hopkinson, Chris Alexander and John Huculiak. 7 pm. $6.66. Cameron House, 408 Queen W. 416-703-0811.

I hope to see a few of you there. When Moe Berg gets on, we can all start humming "I'm an Adult Now." I bet he hates that.

On a non-666-related note, Garfield is depressing. From this post on [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, which also talks about how awesome the strips are when you remove Garfield's thought bubbles.

They're releasing the remake of the original 'Omen' today. Can you have an Omen/Damien without Sam Neil? We'll see...

So, post your im name and which service it's in to a locked post of mine or something.

omg.

I had a history with Garfield once upon a time. But that was another country, and besides, the cat is dead.

Seriously, though, that existentialist Garfield strip messes with my head. It's sort of a nice counterpoint to the horribly banal strip as it exists in the papers. Was Garfield funny once upon a time or was it just that I was seven years old? I have long imagined the Garfield movie(s!) which I haven't seen to be the endpoint of human culture.

my family used to love garfield and I have the same questions as you! and if it was only funny because I was 7, what does that say about my aprents???

Very sadly, the new Slayer has been pushed back until July.

"The band is currently working on a long-awaited new album (due out July 25) that was to be released on June 6, 2006, evoking the Number of the Beast. However, due to recording difficulties, Kerry has changed the date and used June 6 as the launch date of his personal website. This album will be the first with original drummer Dave Lombardo since Seasons in the Abyss. A small snippet of their song "Cult" from the new album is available at www.slayer.net. "Cult" will also be listenable at 6:06 AM, 06/06/06 from their website.
Prior to releasing the new album, Slayer plan to release Eternal Pyre (due out June 6 2006), a limited-edition EP that will preview a new song "Cult". This EP is exclusive to Hot Topic and will not be available anywhere else."

The "Clut" single is also available on iTunes today.

You are correct and I agree. I found a larger version of that pic off of someone's Myspace and made it into an icon.

Icon love!

Yeah, it's not worth the risk of them purging. It also won't do anything, because the people who hate the boob nazis are all planning on making additional journals and posting endless amounts of spam to "counteract" it. Oy vey drama.

one of the absolute best horror writers around, and it's a damn shame that she's so overlooked.

Beating down emo kids is too easy. Now Ann Coulter, who drinks gallons of the rarest virgin blood to keep her human disguise looking decent (hiding one's true demonic form from the world is a trying endeavor!) and devours cobras for brunch, now that is a worthy opponent!

Damn, I was really hoping for Rapture today! Not because I'd ascend bodily into heaven myself, but I was looking forward to shorter lines and more parking spaces. Maybe it'll happen at 6:06 pm (what time zone is God on?) but I think the Almighty uses a 24 hour clock, so the prime hour for snatching the virtuous has passed.
