When you talk to God, it's prayer.

When God talks to you, it means you're off your medication again.

Oh, unless you're this guy.

I've said it before, but people who believe that God talks to them, that the Apocalypse is a good thing, and that they are on divine missions should not be allowed access to weapons of mass destruction. It's just common sense. It's bad for the world and bad for America.

Now, I'm no theologian, but it seems like he's actually claiming to be some sort of prophet here. Why aren't we hearing from religious leaders lining up to condemn this heretic?

Nice icon. I once found one with a pic of Jesus on the cross saying, "I once caught a fish THIS BIG" <3

I love yours.

Thanks. I just discovered Pastafarianism this morning, but I'm already considering conversion, but I'm also afraid I might have to give up my maintainer status of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. I'll let you know what materilizes.

The Jesus YMCA one is good too, but I'm a bit sick of it now. I just realized that I have two Jesus icons and I'm not Christian.

Bad Jew! Take comfort that one of yours reminds people that J.C. was a Jew, so that's part of Jewish pride <3

6

I have 6!

And I kind of want yours. I am not christian - but I am pretty rabidly the opposite and jesus icons make me wet.

If his followers would just leave people the hell alone - I would leave their icon be. I mean he went through some abuse already and shit.

But as a martyr myself - I can really look up to the guy and be friendly - without, you know, accepting him as my personal lord and savior.

The only ones missing are the links to his 'bushism's, where he fucks up his speaches. Checking the links, there's a surprising amount still working.

Eh, no, we have plenty of that here in Ithaca and it gets old pretty fast. I do like *intelligent* liberal culture so I put up with the potheads if I can't find it otherwise. I don't think that every pot smoker is annoying but I'm assuming you meant the annoying kind.

I think technically, anyone to whom God speaks directly is considered a prophet. Which means any claims that God has spoken to you is a claim to be a prophet. But I think Bushi just doesn't know that much about theology and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I think that, while contemporary occidental monotheism discounts the possibility or at least probability of any "major" prophets surfacing these days, they all secretly hope that this assumption is wrong. You won't find any conservative evangelical leaders endorsing even the concept of present-day prophethood, but in secret, away from the cameras, they are all desperately hoping for some pseudo-messiah to rise from the ashes of their lost Christian ontological monopoly to "set things right" and shit. Because they already know they've lost. If you listen to Christian talk radio or whatever, you can really tell that they already know that they've lost. I mean, they are still obnoxious and crazy and whatnot, but they certainly aren't in the same mindset they were a hundred, two hundred years ago. You watch like Pat Robertson or some shit, you can see it in their eyes. This vain desperation, desperately grasping for some sort of redemption, something that will stave off the inevitable extinction of their memetic species. But they have nothing. Nothing at all. So, in a last ditch effort, they look to cracked-out lunatics like Shrub and they secretly think, in their heart of hearts, "this is a man that can bring us back." But they can't say it out loud. Because that would be blasphemous—or at least hysterical. And there is no place for hysterical blasphemy in evanglical Christianity. But that is exactly what they want. They want George Bush, with the mandate of God Himself, to march across the face of the earth and vanquish their assorted enemies.

Thank God that won't happen.

The Christian Right has shown they are not the servants of God because they support a political party and systems - the US Government and Capitalism - that do horrific evil for the benefit of the evil wealthy. So, if one believes what I just said about Uncle Sam and his masters, we know that they do not have a gift the Bible insists every believer has: the gift of Discernment, which comes from the Holy Spirit directly.

As a Liberation Theologist, that is, a Christian Lefty (antifundamentalist), I know they can't be true servants of Christ or they would not tolerate such an abominable compromise against Christ. Jesus would not bomb and murder people for money. His teachings have been co-opted and twisted, powerfully, by satanic capitalism and the Bosses.

Yes, I'm a Christian Anarchist. I'm a former member of the IWW (the Wobblies!), too. I notice the reference to the Sabocat in your name and some of your icons. Are/were you in the IWW? I used to use the nick sabocat very often.

Don't worry. There will be something to stop Bush. Once we find a credible leader who can pull people together powerfully in the Left, it will come apart. I wish I were a leader but I'm more of a loner. I'm piecing together ideas, though.
