Remember Mr. Orange? I saw him yesterday. He greeted me enthusiastically and then proceeded to follow me to the bus stop. People were looking at us strangely.

Last night, I went to the Cooking Fire Theatre Festival. It wasn't that good, alas. Everything except for the last play (which was more visual presentation than play; it was about Käthe Kollwitz and it was low-key and fairly decent) had to do with some sort of Big Creation Myth. I don't know what it is with outdoor theatre and people's need to begin each play with some woman channeling a camp counselor while intoning, "In the beginning..." in a Most Theatrical Voice.

Anyway, there was this one play that was supposed to be a Japanese creation myth with puppets, wherein the puppets were bits of fabric cut into vague kimono shapes. It started to rain, and then a rainbow appeared, and everyone basically stopped paying attention because the rainbow was way more interesting than some white people appropriating Japanese stories (obviously).


I mean, it's a fucking rainbow, right?


Right.

The best thing was that there were a bunch of hippies in the park who had just dropped acid. One of them screamed, "OMG RAINBOW!" and they rushed towards it and started praying to it. Awesome.


I LOL'd.

My last picture of the bunch is so cute that it needs another cute warning, just because. As soon as I'm done posting this, I'm going to send it to CuteOverload.

I only care about very basic keyboard functions. My keyboard can do all sorts of fancy stuff, but if I let that happen, I'd end up not liking the music.

My sister loves black-and-white _tuxedo_ cats. She's had three in a row now, after her legendary black burmese who lived 18 years and survived a tornado with her.

Her current tuxedo pet is Amy Ann.

She'd love that black-and-white fuzz pictured.

He's a good cat. A bit standoffish, but totally cute. I think Luna counts as a tuxedo, although she's got a skunk stripe and a lot more white than most tuxes.

The key, as my awesome photographer friends taught me, is to just shoot a ton of pictures and eventually something will come out. I'm hopeless with film cameras; digitals are my saving grace.

I liked it up until tonight. And then I found out about the downside of people who let their cats outdoors. :(

The hippies weren't quite in my neighbourhood—they were in this wicked-cool park about a 20 minute walk away. I need to remember to hang out there more.

I need your help. As of late, I've been on an 80s kick with bands from "Down Under." I've been listening to the Chills CD Submarine Bells, some old Midnight Oil, Ed Kuepper - Sings His Greatest Hits for You, etc. Can you recommend anything else along those lines that a) Sounds very 80s and b) Is recognizably from your part of the world? Since I remembered that our musical tastes jell fairly well, I thought you would be perfect.
