New layout!
Oct. 24th, 2006 08:39 pmIt's done! And mostly how I envisioned it. (I wish I could play with the fonts—I had to change the title* so that it wouldn't overlap with the image—and colours a bit more.) But otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.) It's more chipper than I generally feel, but I was never too happy with the brown one.
I vow to stop fiddling with it for awhile. No one really looks at it except me. But hey, I have to look at it every day. So there.
* Okay, it was an obscure reference, albeit not as obscure as "The Christie Pits Memorial Softball Team," which no one got (it's a reference to the 1933 Christie Pits Riots). "Don't despair; the whales have survived" is a line from Neville Shute's On the Beach, which I must have read over a decade ago, and it still resonates with me as one of the darkest punchlines in any novel, ever.

Date: 2006-10-25 01:12 am (UTC)I got the "Christie Pits" reference, but only because I looked it up.

I got sick of the earth tones. Not enough to turn my LJ pink again, but I was almost there.

Date: 2006-10-25 07:43 pm (UTC)That said, I like the new look a lot. I think it's much cooler than your old one. I'm surprised you didn't go with a pink color scheme for the side bar to go with your foliage (thank you, incidentally). The only suggestion I would make is altering the doodle part so that none of it gets cut off at the bottom. Other than that, it's awesome and flawless.

Does Marinetti actually have the same sized head as you?

Marinetti's head is huge, but not quite the size of mine.
The Grotesque Burlesque sounds fun. Are they good?

I've only seen them do one piece, but they were pretty good. They were in made up in white face paint like silent film actors. They lip synced to an old ribald '20s song about a ménages à trois sung in English with a German accent. Their prop was a big, billowing bed sheet that they kept popping in and out of to sing their lines. I liked it.
