Happy birthday, Marinetti!
Feb. 5th, 2007 08:00 pm
This roly-poly fellow is eight years old today. Accordingly, eight things I love about teh Marinetti:
• He has the loudest purr of any cat on the planet. Seriously. He sounds like a motor. As well as the super-loud motor purr, he also trills. If he's really happy, he purrs and trills at the same time.
• He lets me do humiliating things to him, like sit him on my lap and play "Eensy Weensy Spider" with his paws.
• I bought him presents totay, but he totally didn't give a shit. He let Luna play with them and then ate her food when she was distracted.
• Most of the time when there's a news story about a really fat cat, it turns out that Marinetti is bigger.
• He's not a sensitive boy per se. You know how when you're depressed and crying, your cat will come and snuggle you? He doesn't do that. He headbutts you and then demands that you pet him.
• Whenever I walk him, someone invariably asks if he's a raccoon, because it's easier to imagine that someone would keep a raccoon as a pet and walk it than it is to imagine that a cat can get that big.
• He likes everyone. He is very indiscriminate about his love. When I take him to the Second Cup patio, he jumps into random strangers' laps and tries to drink their coffee.
• In his own mind, he's the feline Chuck Norris and can kick the ass of any living organism, whether raccoon, bird, or other cat, no matter how many panes of glass are separating them.

Date: 2007-02-06 02:27 am (UTC)P.S. Okay your birthday wishes made me cry. I don't know how old Leon and Rosa are but I know when I adopted them. It's been two and a half years now! And they're about three.
P.P.S. How do you walk a cat? What kind of leash and collar do you use that he can't get out of? He's not terrified? Now I'm plotting for my own cats....

Date: 2007-02-06 02:33 am (UTC)I got him when he was almost four, so he wasn't leash-trained as a kitten. This means that he couldn't be properly leash trained. But the vet said he needed more exercise, and I don't want him going outdoors by himself, so the leash was a compromise. He has a harness and lead, and he does not like it, though on a nice day he'll tolerate it if it means that he gets to go to the café and have everyone pet him. He won't walk like a dog will; he'll meander for a bit and then lie down or make me carry him. He's not at all scared, though; mostly just annoyed.

Date: 2007-02-06 02:27 am (UTC)I love cats that rumble. And cats that headbutt.
Most of the time when there's a news story about a really fat cat, it turns out that Marinetti is bigger.
I think Jaz may have heard that Marinetti is more famous on teh interwebs than he is, and that's why he keeps growing.

Date: 2007-02-06 02:44 am (UTC)i had no idea that you walk marinetti. that's so awesome.
my cats & my dog love coffee. it's the funniest thing. i can't leave a coffee unattended for 2 seconds for fear of someone else's tongue ending up in it.

Date: 2007-02-06 02:58 am (UTC)Also, hee, he doesn't like coffee. He thinks he does, because it has milk in it, but he just sticks his face in it and then remembers that he doesn't like it. Which is annoying, because you don't know whether your coffee is now infested with cat herpes. I am pretty good at not leaving any sort of beverage unattended.

Date: 2007-02-06 06:29 am (UTC)He really is cute. I think that headbutting is most definitely care and concern. He doesn't like it when you're upset and petting him will make you both feel better! Ayida does the same thing.
That's so great that you walk him! I've always wanted to walk the Wedo, but too many unleashed dogs around. Besides, it seems like it would be more like taking her for a drag which doesn't sound as fun.
