A good friend of mine burnt the flag of his school in Columbus, Ohio at 18 (graduation party... though not exactly - he was on home schooling). Spent a few days in a cell with 50 guys trying to have him up his rear. Released on bail. Luckily, never went on trial. Could get up to 3 years, I think.
See, it's just not worth it. You need to buy your own flag. brownfist and I have a theory that most American flags sold in countries other than America are bought for the purpose of setting on fire.
You should check out the whole gallery. Two of the most recent ones (the Day of Action and the Mapuche demo) have a few unflattering pictures of me. ;)
I should just throw a party, period. I was going to throw a pity party but it never materialized.
You should come up for a visit. We throw some good events when we have our shit together (and when we don't, we still cook really well).
The sad panda pity party is probably self-explanatory, but the Nazi-waffle thing deserves elaboration so that people don't think I'm a self-hating Jew. Basically, we were looking at Victorian photos last night and stumbled upon some sort of ancient waffle-making apparatus that looked like it would make waffle ridges that were vaguely swastika-shaped. Hence, Nazi waffles for Jews and honourary members of the Tribe. We only have an ordinary waffle-iron, though, so we'd have to just draw the swastikas with chocolate sauce or something.
P.S. Thanks. I was severely hungover the day of one of the demos, and my hair was doing something immensely weird. Oh well.
It's a fun British holiday where you get to light things on fire in honour of Guy Fawkes, the Catholic guy who failed at blowing up the Houses of Parliament. It's actually morbid in that it's celebrating a dude being executed, but you can always twist it around and burn an effigy of Bush like we did.
hmmm, I seem to remember you shouting "REVOLUTION! NOW!" at said demonstration. Though, I was making a comment on the tone of the demonstration, not the (understandable) reaction of the demonstrators. I still say that demos would be better if we drank at the pub before instead of afterward.
I did manage to realize it was Guy Fawkes day before I was coherent about anything else today. Disappointingly, no-one around here is setting off fireworks.
I do wonder if Guy Fawkes was retroactively inducted into the Marinus van der Lubbe International Firebombing Society.

Date: 2007-11-05 11:18 pm (UTC)But I don't think we should light anything on fire on the roof. It's made of tarpaper. Things could go very Wrong. This might upset the cats.

Date: 2007-11-05 11:23 pm (UTC)We'll have to find somewhere else to burn things. We have a year, so that should be okay.

Date: 2007-11-06 12:29 pm (UTC)I mean, I'm not much better. I use demos to catch up on gossip and then go drink beer. But I wouldn't if demos didn't suck so hard.

I suspect I'm a bad American.
