I've been getting a lot of postcards lately. (You people know who you are: You all make me smile. Thank you.) For awhile, I was just taping them to my wardrobe, but then you can't read what the person wrote. Also, I'm now running out of space.

So, yeah, those of you who get lots of postcards and share my packrat tendencies: How do you display or store them?

I stick them up on the wall too. But I've never found a way to…

Ooh! You could pretend you're Frank Warren and scan them so you could read either side any time you wanted. You don't need to make them into a blog like his, though.

I don't get a lot of postcards, but the ones I do get, I pin to a corkboard (same with old birthday cards... dunno why other than I am an extreme packrat). That way, if I want to read them again, I can just unpin 'em.

I... uh... frame them and make them into art.

We put them in 5x7 photo albums from the dollar store....

If you look for the really cheap ones that just slide in, they usually don't even have a divider in them middle, so you can read both sides...

that's what I was thinking.

I haven't done this, but you could make a mobile out of them and hang it low enough to reach up and read them.

You have the best LJ name ever. I think I may have to go to bed half an hour earlier than usual.

Yay, someone got the reference! And yay for being so agog!

You could tape them to a piece of ribbon and string them from the ceiling, so that you could read both sides.

luckily most of the postcards i get are "thinking of you" type deals where the card isn't the point, the writing is. so i actually have all my postcards posted with the writing on the outside save for the one a friend sent me from guatemala (a photo of women and a little girl standing against a police line) since the actual postcard would be too beautiful to cover up.

haha

I have a sort of a rack that holds them in a file, which I've ordered according to their postcrossing number.

but I'm not anal!

What is a postcrossing number?

Postcrossing is an international postcard exchange service - you send cards to people and other people send cards to you. Each card gets a number to write on it, so that they can be registered with the site when received.

I was thinking you could sort of spiral bind them along the top, allowing you to flip through them either as a book of pictures or a book of letters. I imagine it'd cost like a dollar (aka $0.000001 Canadian) to get it done.

That's pretty cool.

I don't get postcards, but an idea:

Scan them front & back then create a web page of them.

Tape them together, edge-to-edge, and build a fort. Then hide inside with all those words.

yes! and then anyone who comes looking for you will be distracted form their goal of finding you by all of the pretty pictures!

Get a couple of binder clips!

I just keep mine in a stack.

Punch a hole in the corner of each, and string them on a ribbon I'd say.

Also, if you want one from Pennsic, I might be able to oblige (assuming I go this year)

I used to collect the free postcards you can find in cafes and around uni, and stuck them up over my full length mirror (I had three of them since they were the sliding doors to my wardrobe).

Now if I were to do it I'd get something like this http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/magnetic-photo-rope/ , or just weight some string (if going vertically) and use clothes hangers to clip them on.
