Every time I see an article or read a post about that swimmer who is apparently the Übermensch or whatever, I get momentarily confused because I think they're talking about the Westboro Baptist guy.

I saw a TV ad (I was at a pub with my dad, eating lunch), with the sound off, with some woman wearing a t-shirt that said "Phelps Phan!" and I was really curious as to why they put a spot of some fundiewingnut in the Olympics coverage. Then I found out there was a swimmer with that unfortunate surname.

desh, who is an endless source of fascinating Jewish trivia, told me last year that the general rule that any bodily product of a non-kosher creature is also non-kosher has only two exceptions, namely humans and bees.

Humans are not Kosher, though breast milk is Parve (niehter considered dairy nor meat), which makes sense. Wouldn't want the feeder and the feedee to not eat for 3-6 hours after.

But fundie Phelps is based in Mississipi while swimmer Phelps is Maryland. And swimmer-dad Fred has been divorced (ha! take that!). And I don't know much about swimmer Phelps but there's always something homoerotic about that kind of wet nudity.

A member of the Westboro Phelps clan has said she's trying to find out if there is a family connection. That implies there is no direct/obvious relation cause then she'd already know.

Oh, and the big U.S. internetz newz yesterday was all some non-controversy about Obama saying something about deciding when life begins is above his "pay grade". Even after reading the article to find out what Obama is saying about "gay pride", my brain still reads all the headlines that way and I keep having to manually bounce the letters back where they're supposed to be in my head.
