Heh. If the feds hadn't rescued AIG and they had gone bankrupt yesterday then maybe, yes, capitalism might have actually collapsed (or at least the US economy). But they did and it didn't. At least not completely.

Edit: Oh, wait. I may have spoken too soon. According to this article, "Not even the historic bailout Tuesday of American International Group Inc., the world's largest insurer, could calm investors amid fears that the U.S. government is running out of options to contain a widening financial crisis."
