You know the game. Winner gets to be an Insufferable Music Snob. The theme is "autumnal and slightly spooky," but it was mostly just my iTunes on random, skipping the non-English and instrumental songs. Oh, and this is possibly one of the more obscure ones I've done. Heh.
*drumroll*
1. “The face forgives the mirror. The worm forgives the plow.” "All the World is Green," Tom Waits. Guessed by
snarkitysnarks.
2. “We struggle for the joy that life is haunted by.”
3. “This skein of skin is all too few to keep me from you.” "Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)," Decemberists. Guessed by
cucumberseed.
4. “You've got the kind of eyes that burns goose flesh off.”
5. “But God doesn't always have the best goddamn plans, does he?” "Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts," Wolf Parade. Guessed by
laura_sm.
6. “The sky’s bright blue. The sun is up high. This is the little boy’s picture. He drew it for you.” (Hint: This is a translation.)
7. “Once there were stars behind his eyes. But now they have dimmed and crystallized.”
8. “One guy wears an eyepatch while the other wears a tie; one will play the liberator, the other, run and hide. I hear the cannons crack a mile down freedom street.” "Isis Veiled," Tear Garden. Guessed by
soberloki.
9. “Now language escape, fugitive of forgiveness. Leaving as trace only circles of rust.”
10. “Let every man who disagrees be roughly brought down to his knees.” "War Buddies," Harvey Danger. Guessed by
snarkitysnarks.
11. “We built the ships for war and for peace, we built that church in whose gardens we sleep.” "We Are the Dead Men," Sol Invictus. Guessed by
snarkitysnarks.
12. “You're a genteel rent boy choking on your tongue.”
13. “And her hallway moves like the ocean moves.” "Flood II," Sisters of Mercy. Guessed by
frippy.
14. “Please don't cry for hammer in your teeth. We'll spoil the pretty snow that lies beneath.”
15. “Like springing tigers, we encircle the cities, to the future we will take an oath.”
16. “Who serves to protect the orchestra in me?”
17. “Over the deep and the deadly sweep, the fire and the bursting shell. Where the very air is a mad despair, the throes of a living hell.”
18. “I would like to have a place, plant a crop in a building's place.”
19. “Whilst the crumbs of night that leap into shadows as windows close and curtains open, hissed as smoke might if God could give it tongues.”
20. “I am a forger or a fake who dabs and bursts each blood-filled egg."
