Unrequested rant
Jan. 27th, 2005 06:19 pmIf you've never seen Jewish World Review, you're missing a real treat. Don't let the name fool you. It has very little to do with Judaism. (Unless Ann Coulter has converted. She hasn't, has she?) I haven't done a scientific study, but a brief glance at the names of the columns reveals that there are significantly more articles about Muslims--sorry, Islamo-Fascists--than there are about Jews. It features such illustrious writers as Daniel "Racial Profiling Is Your Friend" Pipes, David "Axis of Evil" Frum (poor Barbara is rolling in her grave!) and Alan "My Book's Primary Source Is A Proven Fraud" Dershowitz*. And Coulter, who I saw on the fifth estate last night claiming that Canada once sent troops to fight in the Vietnam War. Sure we did, Ann.**
There are some really great articles on this site. Most of them are either about some Threat to Our Freedom or about how The Palestinians Don't Exist. Julia Gorin, for example, tells us all about how living conditions in Manhattan are worse than those in Palestinian refugee camps.
These articles aren't easy to read. I suspect that they're strung together using macros in Microsoft Word. You keep seeing the same words and phrases crop up. I mean, this is the dumping ground for the dregs of neoconservative bollocks. But the best of all, and the article that led me to the site, is about the most dangerous Threat to Our Freedom out there. And you'll never guess what it is.
Rather than try to describe it (because that would be hard, since I'm alternating between giggling and wanting to vomit), I'll link you to
zingerella's post about it, since she's the one who showed it to me in the first place. Go forth and read!
A perfidious threat to society revealed
* One of LJ's spell checker's suggested spellings of Dershowitz is "twit." Hee!
** If you're interested in actually seeing this, check out Sticks and Stones on CBC Newsworld tonight. It's fucking hilarious.
