Just to be safe, I'm backing up my entire LJ here. Since I haven't done that in about four years, you're probably going to see a massive dump of stuff. I don't know how to stop that from happening.
Aw, one of the big things about deleting my LJ was being sad I'd miss out on your posts! And yeah, if it's all backdated it shouldn't show up all at once.
I think English-speakers are probably panicking too much over the move to Russian servers—LJ's been owned by the Russians for years now—but I'd rather err on the side of paranoia.
I've been posting to Dreamwidth, with an automatic crosspost to LJ, ever since the last panic. And the failures have been few and very far between. (And when a cross-post doesn't work, DW sends me an email notification.)
So you might want to consider doing it, too. Who knows, if enough of us did, I might find it worth checking my DW feed more than once every two or three weeks.
ETA: I have a paid DW account; not certain cross-posting is available to free accounts.
The last time I tried this literally nothing worked and it was ferociously annoying and tedious. So I post at DW and cross post to LJ. I think my whole LJ is on DW, now? I don't remember. It IS a pain in the ass, especially if you want to post photos. Do you have a better solution than DW?
