For the love of all that is unholy, make women's t-shirts available at geek events. I'll add that this goes double for political events, which despite claims to inclusiveness, still suck in this regard (I'm glaring at you, labour unions and your XXL men's t-shirts).
I used to have a whole bunch of t-shirts that I bought because I liked what was on the t-shirt, but the shirts looked like tents on me. I scrapped all but a few, which I wear as nightshirts, because life is too short to own clothes that don't fit.

I blame Hippies.

Date: 2010-07-29 04:46 pm (UTC)One thing that came up in that discussion, though, was that terminology can sometimes be problematic. I had made a comment there that I didn't like it when T-shirts cut for men (i.e. straight up and down) were referred to as "regular" or "unisex" T-shirts, while T-shirts cut for women (i.e. going in a bit at the waist, and stretching enough to accommodate breasts) were referred to by cutesy names like "babydoll".
But that comment was criticized by some women who like men's style better and thought that calling T-shirts cut to accommodate a bustline and waistline women's T-shirts was insulting to women who didn't have conventionally "feminine" figures. Trouble is, I'm really not sure what else to call them! "T-shirts designed to fit people who go out at the bust and in at the waist" seems like a bit of a mouthful...

Date: 2010-07-29 07:26 pm (UTC)I use stuff this book to alter dude shirts a lot:

But most of the time I'd rather just be able to buy something and put it on, you know?
