On the one hand hyper-texting is just plain ol' incorrect, on the other sexting is icky and weird. Icky and weird is somehow worse for me.

I wasn't going to read the article because I suck but then I was like oh hey maybe I should read the article.
I thought the two terms you asked about were both being used to mean what sexting means.

I still hate sexting more so my vote remains the same. That word bothers me.

But the article is preciously stupid. Text messaging: the gateway drug.
