Ganked from

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...
Opening Credits:
Leon Gieco, "En el pais de la libertad"
...so this is a movie about my activism, I guess.
Waking Up:
The Tallest Man on Earth, "Into the Stream"
"I've set the rain to be cold and hard / I've set the sun to be bright and sharp / To wake you up
from your hollow dream / I'll shake your bed with a thunder strike from my hand"
So anyway.
First Day At School:
The Ramones, "Chinese Rock"
I did not do heroin at the age of five.
Falling In Love:
Amanda Palmer feat. Zoë Keating, "Astronaut"
I think that might be the theme song of anyone who has ever had the unpleasant experience of falling for me, rather than the other way around.
Fight Song:
Metric, "Sick Muse"
Sure.
Breaking Up:
Sisters of Mercy, Gerard McMann, "Cry Little Sister"
I was never entirely sure about this song. It has disturbing subtext. By which I mean "disturbing actual text."
Prom:
Basia Bulat, "Little Waltz"
If they played anything that good at my high school prom, I might have actually gone. Wait, why am I getting into epic fights to Metric before I've even graduated? I think I might be too old for this meme.
Life is good:
Paul Roland, "Berlin"
I did like Berlin a lot. Granted, this song is about Weimer-era Berlin, but hey, it works.
Mental Breakdown:
Artist unknown, "H Block Song"
And then I was an IRA prisoner on a hunger strike? For some reason.
Driving:
The Decemberists, "Apology Song"
I was about to ask why I'm driving in a story about my life. But apparently, I'm driving a bicycle. Which is then stolen. Makes as much sense as anything else.
Flashback:
Tom Waits, "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag"
Which begs the question why the director didn't just focus on this part of my life.
Getting Back Together:
Sam Hinton, "Old Man Atom"
Apparently this film is a rom com about me and Doctor Manhattan?
Wedding:
The Weakerthans, "Little Pictures"
Aww. Wait, why am I getting married, exactly?
Final Battle:
The Tossers, "Young Ned of the Hill"
I am increasingly confused about the genre of this film.
Death Scene:
Björk, "Vertebrae By Vertebrae"
I got nothing.
Funeral Song:
Gogol Bordello, "Rebellious Love"
I put the fun back in funeral.
End Credits:
Regina Spektor, "Sailor Song"
This is a really good end credits song.
You may now go ahead and make up a plot for me.

Date: 2011-04-25 05:54 pm (UTC)Of course, claiming you're not goth is just another sign of being a goth band. Robert Smtih, Siouxsie Sioux and Peter Murphy have all made similar claims. However, Eldritch is the only one who insists on being a massive cockface about it.

Date: 2011-04-25 03:59 pm (UTC)::wumpscutt:: "The Boo"
That's oh fuck me inauspicious. Unfortunately, given that I was wracked with nightmares as a child, probably not so inaccurate.
Waking Up:
Peter Gabriel "The Book of Love"
Takes as long as I usually do to get going.
First Day At School:
Tom Waits "Singapore (live in Edinburgh)
I did not do heroin at the age of five.
Apparently, I did opium.
Falling In Love:
Radiohead "Morning Mr. Magpie"
Okay, that's... interesting. I'd like to see someone direct a meet-cute with this song.
Fight Song:
Mojo Nixon "My Free Will Just Ain't Willing"
It works for me.
Breaking Up:
Dan Fogelberg "Empty Cages"
Probably appropriate. Also, probably my fault.
Prom:
She Wants Revenge "Someone Must Get Hurt"
Yeah, my age hits me here, too. This is more appropriate for my sister's prom than mine in terms of time period. But it might have been appropriate, had I gone to my prom.
Life is good:
Judas Priest "Hell Bent for Leather"
HELL YEAH *throws up the metal horns*
Mental Breakdown:
VNV Nation "Secluded Spaces"
Shit, I think I listened to this during a recent breakdown.
Driving:
M83 "We Own the Sky"
M83 is amazing driving music. I will take it.
Flashback:
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult "Do you Fear for your Child?"
To what the fuck am I flashing back. I don't remember this going forward, that's for damn sure.
Getting Back Together:
Rasputina "The New 0"
OH HELL NO. This was actually a couple song for me, from the Poisonous One (we all have one who is, through only some fault of their own and way out of proportion to their faults, totally poisonous.)
Wedding:
Paprika OST "Procession"
Right. That would have been a lot more fun than what we did for a wedding.
Final Battle:
Peter Gabriel "Big Time"
I think I get killed by Charlie Sheen.
Death Scene:
The Decembrists "January Hymn"
Not a bad song to die to. Not my first choice, but it will play.
Funeral Song:
TV on the Radio "Staring at the Sun"
You know, I think I might have this played at whatever memorial service they ever do for me, assuming that I am not the last one out, turn off the lights.
End Credits:
Carolina Chocolate Drops "Hit 'em up Style"
erm.... Okay.

Date: 2011-04-25 07:47 pm (UTC)the only mp3s i listen to are things that originally existed as mp3 releases, and those i listen to on my stereo.
i had about 30 gigs of opera mp3s on here, by i've been weeding them out since, again, i tend not to listen to music on the computer.
not exactly sure where the stockhausen came from, though.

Date: 2011-04-26 02:03 pm (UTC)It's a biopic about someone who had the best years of their life in highschool, then got married to Doctor Manhatten, and saved the world in an epic battle.
There should be more zombies.

Date: 2011-05-01 08:52 am (UTC)Opening Credits:
Enya, "Deora Ar Mo Chroi"
It's serene, but I have no clue what it's about. Seems to fit.
Waking Up:
Indigo Girls, "Reunion"
This is better traveling music, but I wish I woke up every morning feeling like this song does. I have nothing to hide.
First Day At School:
Liz Phair, "Polyester Bride"
Do I want to find alligator cowboy boots? Then just be myself. I the "You've got time. I keep on pushing harder" part works, put if over a montage of studying. Issue is, I was never an industrious student until college.
Falling In Love:
OK Go, "While You Were Asleep"
This one works fine, oddly appropriate even.
Fight Song:
OK Go, "Back From Kathmandu"
The sound of the song is somewhat fitting for a fight, I'm not sure about the lyrics.
Breaking Up:
Regina Spektor, "Sailor Song"
It doesn't sound like an amicable split then. I wonder why Marian and I broke up.
Prom:
They Might Be Giants, "Istanbul (not Constantinople)"
I think I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. It's an old enough song that it could have been played at my prom, and if they had a request list, I almost certainly asked the DJ to play it; They Might Be Giants is one of the groups I listened to before I started listening to the radio. I can't remember if they played it. I can't remember a single song from the prom.
Life is good:
Bethlehem, "Durch beflekte Berührung meiner Nemesis"
... This bodes ill. It'd be much more fitting for the next theme.
Mental Breakdown:
Tragic Mulatto, "My Mother"
Oh, okay. Nicely hectic, a woman screaming incomprehensibly in a nagging tone. It has a fade out point where it seems to be over, then it comes back. All the same, much more cheerful than my "Life is good" music.
Driving:
Tragic Mulatto, "Bathroom at Amelia's"
It's going to segue directly from the breakdown into the car ride.
Flashback:
Future Sound of London, "Papua New Guinea"
Starts ethereally, good for a flashback, I imagine. Too slow to fight to. I suppose it works for the type of flashback where you see close shots of hands running over skin.
Getting Back Together:
Liz Phair, "Uncle Alvarez"
I have no clue how this works in context.
Wedding:
Indigo Girls, "Three Hits"
Well, at least it wasn't "Land of Caanan." Colour me confused.
Final Battle:
Nirvana, "Been a Son"
Yeah.
Death Scene:
Austin Klezmorim, "Birobidjan"
My death involves sousaphones. Nothing bad about that. Maybe I'll find myself in Russia as well. Hopefully not Texas. Though, my mental break-down and driving also involved Sousaphones. Hmm.
Funeral Song:
Massive Attack, "Special Cases"
My casket will explode as people walk away without looking at it (maybe they're putting on sunglasses), and then it'll do a "Powers of 10" zoom out.
End Credits:
Gabrielle, "Dreams"
It's a very upbeat song to end on, at least.
