Date: 2012-07-20 05:31 am (UTC)Personally, I wouldn't bet for, or against, that particular outcome. Violent assholes come in every variety - some are homegrown, some not. I figure it's about even odds either way. I mean, if you picked out ten totally random people from the Toronto phone book, probably half of them would be from somewhere else - it's the nature of the city, and one of the things I like best about it. So I don't think there's any guarantee that the shooters will turn out to be whatever Ford would consider "real" Canadians, any more than there is that any other random person would be.
Of course, that in no way excuses Ford's racist assumption that anyone engaging in gun violence must be one of them there dirty furriners... And honestly, I hope they'll turn out to be Canadian, just so right-wing idiots don't have more ammunition for their anti-immigrant crap. But I wouldn't bet the rent or anything... :-/
