Dear American friends,

Good luck with your crappy electoral system and lack of genuine choice today. We had better not wake up to President Fucking Mittens tomorrow is all I'm saying.

love,

And the bailing out wall street with no prosecution thing. And the growing the drug war thing. And growing the prison industrial complex.

At least we have a better, more receptive, target for protest.

...says the person currently governed by Harper & party, and also that fabulous mayor I've heard so much about... ;)

Irritation about the top of the ticket is justified, but rhetoric which pretends there are no choices in elections just does more to ensure they have none.

In Illinois we have a sneaky constitutional amendment which is designed to screw over public pensions. There are also referendums about funding Chicago teacher pensions the same as the rest of the state (currently the city has to fund them entirely), and switching Chicago back to an elected school board (alas, this one is non-binding, but Chicago is again, the only part of the state which doesn't do this and look at the awesome results). Also, some of the non-presidential races involve anti-choice zealots versus actual progressives. So there is genuine choice, it's just not at the top of the ballot.

Voting does matter, if it didn't then the Koch brothers and their crew wouldn't be spending so much money ensuring as few people can do it as possible.

Yeah - I'm doing my fucking part. Ugh.

I'm more concerned about my state senator. Thankfully - so far the polls indicate (or last I saw) that my current rep who's running for senate (and is also a Lesbian :)), is in the lead (against one of our longest running governors - who was "moderate" compared to most of the asshats running these days, but now is just as rabidly dickish as they are to get their votes - evil shit)... So that's the main reason why I'm going - I don't have any worries that Obama isn't going to win (unless some of the shady Ohio shenanigans happen)... But I also do think there's some shady shit going down in other places as well (including Wisconsin). Meh. I wouldn't be quite so worried about Mitt (just a dumbshit opportunist, bad as he is, he could be worse) but that fucking dickwipe Paul Ryan deserves to be gone from our attention now and ever more. I'm buying liquor tonight.

Feel better? I do, cause she won!

Those fuckers lost the culture war.

Nothing to worry about at all. There's no chance of a President Romney tomorrow.

You'll have to wait until January 20th at the very least.

Mission Accomplished.

I was worried about who I was going to have to protest. Now I know. Off to the free speech zone!
