Dear American friends,
Good luck with your crappy electoral system and lack of genuine choice today. We had better not wake up to President Fucking Mittens tomorrow is all I'm saying.

Date: 2012-11-06 06:20 pm (UTC)In Illinois we have a sneaky constitutional amendment which is designed to screw over public pensions. There are also referendums about funding Chicago teacher pensions the same as the rest of the state (currently the city has to fund them entirely), and switching Chicago back to an elected school board (alas, this one is non-binding, but Chicago is again, the only part of the state which doesn't do this and look at the awesome results). Also, some of the non-presidential races involve anti-choice zealots versus actual progressives. So there is genuine choice, it's just not at the top of the ballot.
Voting does matter, if it didn't then the Koch brothers and their crew wouldn't be spending so much money ensuring as few people can do it as possible.
