Remember when Orson Scott Card was going to overthrow the American government if gay marriage became legal?

Now he's pleading for tolerance. Um. OSC, you're on the board of an organization that has, as pretty much its sole mandate, intolerance.

A boycott is not censorship. No one owes OSC, or anyone else, a living as a writer. No one owes him a platform from which to spew his bigotry. Man, I hope this movie flops harder than a dying fish.

It's even more amazing if you read the original essay. He's not just gay marriage, but single mothers, unmarried couples living together and anything which undermines the purity of marriage, which he equates with property law. The essay he wrote in support of anti-sodomy laws (which he claims is liberal because he said they shouldn't be enforced unless gays are open about it) is even more hilarious as he posits that young males are predisposed to copulate with damn near anything.

Well I don't know what kind of young males he's hanging out with, but the ones I know generally stay away from, say, poodles and box turtles. Mostly.

Oh, but don't you know? Bigoted straight white dudes are the most oppressed minority EVAR, because everyone is mean to them all the time for no reason at all. All the poor little darlings want is to be left to preach hate and take away other people's civil rights in peace, but will anyone let them? Nooooo...
