sabotabby: (books!)
Today has been a much of a muchness, though this time in a more heartwarming way (the life drawing session got unexpectedly Zoom-bombed by a feline of truly impressive girth, and the kids told me that apparently I make them happy and make all the other staff members happy). But it's Wednesday, my dudes, and that means books.

Just finished: [redacted]. What a spectacularly odd book. I very much enjoyed it in the way that I enjoyed a certain other notorious book by the same author, and I won't say much more than that for now.

Currently reading: The Colour of Resistance: A Contemporary Collection of Writing by Aboriginal Women, edited by Connie Fife. This is for work—day job work, not fun freelance work—but it's at least the good kind of work? As you can probably guess by the title, it's a little dated (1998) but there are some fantastic authors included, and their work stands the test of time. I just finished the poetry section and I have a hard time writing critically about poetry. Like I either love it or I don't. There were a number of poems that I absolutely loved and bookmarked to share with my students, and others that felt very much like that style of feminist poetry from about the 60s to the early 2000s that feels a little cringe now. I'm much more excited about the short stories. So far Lee Maracle's is, unsurprisingly, the standout.
