Only 90s kids will remember this!
Jul. 11th, 2018 03:32 pmWhen the old—soon to be new—Ontario health curriculum was published, Google looked like this:

I mention that because Google is one of the less horrible places places kids will now go looking for information about sexuality and sexual health.

Date: 2018-07-12 11:43 am (UTC)With my friends who teach Health (which is not most of the teachers I know), they intend to keep teaching the new curriculum and giving all the resources to their kids. I don't teach Health, but I pass on resources from, say, the 519 Community Centre or Supporting Our Youth to my queer kids if they don't know already. Or whatever they need. But curriculum is really secondary in my type of school.
My concern more involves teachers who otherwise don't know—like, I had to educate a bunch of my progressive colleagues on trans issues—and without the push of the curriculum existing, won't feel the need to find out. And rural communities. With most leftie teachers here, we don't feel bound to sticking to what the curriculum says anyway, but there's a wide variety of individuals and teaching styles province-wide.
