I promise I would not link you to an hour-long BreadTube video that is mainly a guy talking unless it was really, really good. But like, I also can't be the only person in my friend group to watch this really fascinating video that links Enzo Traverso and Mark Fisher to Ruth Levitas and Ernst Bloch by way of Jackson Galaxy. The cat guy, I mean. This is a rambling tour through the contemporary left, depression and despair, nostalgia and utopianism, and it absolutely made my day. Also at some point in the video an orange cat gets buttered but it's not what you think.

Also he does it under a poster with this incredible graphic, while wearing a Weakerthans shirt, so basically even the subtle details cleared my skin and watered my crops. So, you're welcome.

I am pretty sure the Venn diagram of BreadTube leftists and carbohydrate enthusiasts is basically a circle.

I did have a brilliant idea for a baking channel I was going to do called "Bread and Roses" but I am neither a good enough baker nor particularly skilled at filming myself.

I just did a really gorgeous shoot (if I do say so myself) with um. Instant ramen noodles. But that's not the kind of setup I can manage for film if I'm also the subject.

It gave me the urge to watch that show. Which, oddly, I've never seen. But also to think about the importance of mythology on the left.

the show has a p predictable format, but I kind of enjoy it. theres a bad cat, jackson comes around, tells them to give the cat spaces to be n shit and to play with the damn cat, jackson leaves.
