Possible Icon Fodder?

I thought you might find this schadenfreude / squee-worthy: Patches for Imperial Stormtrooper "reenactors" from many nations - including Canada and Israel. There are a handful of Rebel patches as well; some Canadian, none Israeli. The Michigan one is cute, as well as the Rebel "Ghostbusters" patch.

Well, I thought you might be amused by Israeli stormtroopers.

... and those from Al Berta.

Hey, not to pimp myself too shamelessly, but you haven't commented on anything since my pirate swag post and I've been on fire lately.

New Star Wars- terrible. I thought that the last one was funny though, the best of the 3. Hayden Christiensen= worst actor ever. He's cute though in a non-sexy kinda way.

I wonder why Arabic numerals are used with whatever script that is on the patches. "501" is universal?

Uuuuh, do you think Mal and Kaylee ever argue over Serenity, the way parents would argue about how to discipline or raise their children?

I could see it.

I mean...if they were real...and had lives outside of the fictional stories we see them in....

Or maybe Nathan Fillion and Jewel Staite will actually launch into an argument like that while they're hanging out at a con and then stop and go "...Whoah..."

Whatever, it's late. goodnight.

Jayne is played by a Republican

What, you're surprised? Jayne is not only played by a Republican, he IS a Republican! The only reason his character is not a racist, mysogynist pig (remark, not that Democrats can't do that as well) is because of political correctness.

I mean, even Mal is the classic working-class Republican, a kind of male [livejournal.com profile] ginmar. (She's not anymore, but she used to.)

I'll go with ring-wing populist...

This reminds me of when Miles O'Brien started getting more attention on TNG because the public identified with him and demanded more of him. I mean, who actually identifies with Patrick Stewart?

And DS9 started collapsing when the doctor turned out to be a GMO-supergenius who'd been faking it as a regular Joe. That wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back, but it was all happening around the same period when you started having demon-fleets of Dominion and whatever the hell they threw in that show towards the last seasons. I stopped watching.

It's Star Wars - there's sound in space and Han & Leia can step outside in it wearing only gas masks - and you are worried about numbers?

I'll have to try Cuban rum sometime. I suppose that requires a trip out of the США.

Oh man, so much more. We brought back our 4-bottle alotment and I made the mistake of giving 2 away. If I ever go back to Cuba, I'm keeping the 4 bottles to myself and I'll find other gifts to bring back for people.

Although, we still have some left. Feel free to invite yourself here for degustation ;]

един is single/one (similar to один, the number one), Со- is similar to the English/Latin co-, together, though I suspect it's etymologically closer to syn-, which comes from Greek. I'm pretty sure they are all originally from the same Indo-european root.

I was writing an essay on Chinese foreign relations in the Maoist period yesterday and I wrote down USSR vs. USSA at some point. That wasn't in the essay I handed in, but by 1966 that was China's attitude towards the two countries: interchangeable superpowers.

I think that if Khrushchev would have let Mao have his way, we would have had nuclear war. Mao was pretty much the eastern Che, without a domestic Castro to temper him!

From my perspective (living on US Strategic Air Command bases from the 1950's until the early 70's), the danger was always more that the US would start a nuclear war by accident than anything else.
