So every time I open American Gods on the streetcar to read it, some guy is going to inevitably use it as an excuse to initiate an awkward conversation. Am I right?

Look, if I wanted to talk to someone, I wouldn't have my face buried in a book, now would I?

I think that's the risk of reading anything by Gaiman.

Maybe if you covered it with the jacket for "Godless: The Church of Liberalism"?

Of course Ann Coulter would get you another set of guys bothering you, but those you can without any regrets kick right in the 'nads.

well, you might, but it would be Henry Miller or David Eggers or some other hack that people like to name drop.

Well, if you want to stave of the men, there's Mary Daly's Wickedary. Not too many second wave feminist guys are going to bother you. (Yes, I have a copy. Yes, I've bought copies for friends.)
