According to an Italian lip-reader who was shown the clip by BBC News at 10, he wished Zidane "An ugly death for you and all your family". On the day Zidane learnt that his mother was seriously ill.

I've just heard on Radio 5 that the Sun got their own lipreader, who says that Mattarazzi said "You're the son of a terrorist whore". And if the Sun says it, it must be true.

But they were also saying on R5 that they were asking the lads around the North African estates around Paris, and they were all convinced it must have been a reference to his Muslim and/or Arab background (which was my first thought too), and that Zidane's response was quite right.

Bill White? That has to be a pseudonym. It's the most boring, whitebread name someone could imagine, and probably what an unimaginative White Supremacist would want to be called. Perhaps he got purged because he was so boring? He didn't even think to use the word "Jewess" instead of "Jew," which is somehow always funnier to hear from an angry white supremacist.

The one thing that Bill White isn't is boring. I mean, he calls himself a libertarian socialist. Which boggles the mind, given that it's a term applied more or less exclusively to anarchists.

I wish he'd called me a Jewess. I'd probably have peed my pants laughing, though, so maybe it's for the best.

The random helicoptors are weird; I was startled to hear one the other day. I thought it might be the cop-copter, but that was supposedly grounded years ago. The fighter jets might be practicing for the air show.

As I mentioned here, 'the French anti-racist group SOS Racisme claims, based on information from sources "close to French football", that Materazzi called Zidane a "dirty terrorist".' I don't know if this is true, but it seems plausible, and I can empathize with Zidane. (Even if I still think he should have waited until after the game to headbutt Materazzi.)

Where did you get this scuttlebutt about the NSM? I've had it in for Bill White ever since my brief stint in Washington DC. My guess as to why they did it is that he's still the same self-important, undisciplined prick that he was when he still called himself a leftist. Now he's just a self-important, undisciplined, neo-Nazi prick.
