Then there was the time when one of the cats was missing (the maine coonish one) and my ex opened up the freezer and found him, happy as a clam, eating ice cream.

My ex surmised that the dog (monster white german shepherd who would break into the refrigerator to eat jalapeños) opened the freezer (on the bottom) and shared with the cat. When the dog left, the door closed.

The only way we could keep the dog inside was to lock the door with a keyed deadbolt, and take the key out of the lock. She knew all about turning doorknobs and latches and keys.

billie always wants in the fridge. although, to be fair, she wants on the other side of any door. we're so afraid she's going to figure out doorknobs soon. sometimes, she sits on the laundry basket & plays with the doorknob on the closet.

Marinetti always wants to be in the fridge when it's hot. He's already figured out that most of the doors in the apartment can be opened without opposable thumbs, since our landlady sucks at doorknobs.

Ok wait though. I saw the cat/fridge picture and thought it was hilarious and have now seen like seven variants. Are these all a trope on something else?

The variants are human_loser's fault. He had an idea for one, I posted it here, and my wonderful friends got it in their heads to make a bunch more.
