yep. it did seem like a case of the terrorist doth confess too much.

do they really think we would believe, in these post iraq days, that ONE guy is responsible for all those things?

I'm generally skeptical of confessions extracted under torture. But I've heard independent evidence confirming Khaled Sheikh Mohammed's role, and from reliable sources. Osama was the bank, and this guy was the evil genius...

ironically, i linked to the episode that shows how torture played a role in the the development of Islamic extremism. The episode that explains Mohammed's role was this one, I think.

Do you remember an awful, I mean truly terrible show set in Toronto called "Forever Knight"? Man, I loved that show.

They have had this guy in assorted CIA 'interrogation facilities' for four years. I can't imagine there would be anything left he wouldn't confess to. Doesn't say much for the CIA's productivity though. Beria was much quicker.

Because I just started watching a fantastic show called "Slings & Arrows", and the guy that plays the second season's MacBeth was Nick Knight.

Oh, and to make it topical, apparently this guy also is a regular guest star on 24 these days. Hoorah for torture!

... and to get even more tangential, I was at a sandwich shop a couple of weeks ago, and the woman that was standing next to me on line had a tiny framed picture of Kiefer Sutherland on her keychain. Weird.

I was just testing you, [livejournal.com profile] sabotabby. Everyone knows that Kennedy was assassinated by Lyndon Johnson and Mossad so that Johnson could continue the Vietnam War.

Like they said in Resevoir Dogs, If you torture him long enough, he'll confess to starting the Chicago fire!

That guy sure is taking a lot of credit for an awful lot of stuff!

That's exactly how he worked it out. He was an independent agent but a very active one.

I was surprised to discover how much of this so-called organized, underground terrorist network was an American invention. Al-qaeda as a formal organization did not exist before 9/11, and it was invented by the US government because they had to show the American public a clear enemy to explain their failure to prevent the attack. The documentary makes this case indisputable, I think. And it was invented because if they had admitted the responsible were just a few people working independently, then this would make them look incompetent. So, naturally they shifted the blame.

The more I learn about how the mind of high government works, the more I feel like it's an episode of "The Office." Everyone plotting to shift blame and inventing phantom threats to exploit the prejudices of their colleagues really lifts my spirits. Like, "I didn't break the copy machine. It was Phil and his crack crew from Fifth Floor Gang. They always thought they were better than us on the Sixth Floor. And they could pull it off because they are pretty brainy, so they could do, you know, if they wanted to, ahem, evil. Just sayin'."

At first I was going to say something snarky, but I forgot what after some thought, and now I feel sick.
This is how it will be. Nobody will ever know what is real. Sometimes I can't handle that. I feel nauseas. I think this caught me at a bad time.
