i just looked at the page 'o shirts, and it really makes me wonder what the fascination with h.p. lovecraft is all about. there's a sort of 'local pride' thing about lovecraft here in providence, but i don't quite get the wider (apparently t-shirt worthy) appeal.

he was also a brilliant writer that created some of the strangest and best sf, horror, and fantasy of the 20th century.
and i snippily add that 'cult' implies marginalisation, when he's been the critics' darling for decades and his work is some of the most widely translated american literature, and it's seen an impressive amount of mainstream printings in the past few decades.
hmph!

Brilliant? Yes. Especially if you don't mind the fact that everything is eldritch, and the moon is always gibbous.

I love the guy, but I also like adjectives.

I totally need the Tesla and Bat Country shirts. I can't believe I've been existing without them.

I routinely wear a Provisional IRA shirt to work. Mind you, I am a federal employee.

Hmm, I can only narrow it down to three:

1)Free the shit outta you
2)SLA
3)Hammer/Sickle/Superman

1 and 3 are the narrowest I can get, if you had to force my hand.

Hammer/Sickle Superman is from the Superman: Red Son comic book, in which Supes does not land in Ma & Pa Kent's back yard, but rather in Ma & Pa Kentovich's glorious farming collective.

Ah ha! I heard of that... Morrison, right? Never read it, nor did I realize that he had that as a symbol. Pretty sweet.

So, how is the book? I'm curious... I loved the Invisibles, and alternate history stuff like this piques my curiosity.

I like "Bat country" and "SuperCom" the best, if only for the comic geekery and they're two shirts you actually can wear to work, seeing as no one will actually get the subversive nature of the picture, unless they're rude and stare at your tits.

sorry...we can no longer speak to each other. Anyone who would make me choose between a super-commie t-shirt and a Tesla t-shirt is obviously only bent on making me cry.

For shame madam, for shame.

(psst - super-commie FTW!)

It was a hard choice, but I went with the majority. But why couldn't you wear the Tesla shirt to school? Is there something about him I should know?

It's hard to choose before we see how you fill them up.

Trying to use my imagination though, I'll go with the SLA, because the weird snakey logo is a sure conversation starter, and capped sleeves.

That only 3 other people (at current count) are waiting for "Everybody Gets Ice Cream" damns democracy.

I voted for the SLA shirt, not because I like the SLA--but because I'm currently reading The Many-Headed Hydra: Sailors, Slaves, Commoners, and the Hidden History of the Revolutionary Atlantic.

I'm enjoying the book quite a good bit, about as much as you can enjoy a book that makes you seethe with anger for people 300-500 years in the grave.
