Rosemary was lucky. She could have been recruited by a "vampyre" cult. Vampires, as we call them, are now active in the vicinity of several campuses. They recruit the Rosemarys of the world into their "vampyre" families.

Lolz!

Hello? I think 1952's calling, it wants it's fear-mongering clueless newspaper column back. Damn beatnicks.

is it plain AirPort? Express? Extreme?

Plain AirPort is an 802.11b device and doesn't support 802.11g. Maybe your AirPort isn't compatible with the settings on zingerella's router?

It also worked here last week, didn't it?

I swear I haven't changed any settings or anything.

Oh. There was that night I told you that I'd hooked up the router and all. I thought it worked then.

Sigh. I don't know why it doesn't work for you. It's sitting downstairs, broadcasting away.

How many wireless networks can you see? I can pick up six from upstairs and eight from downstairs.

Oh hey! Have you re-set your internets since I hooked up the router? I just remembered that I had to go into my System Preferences and tell it to drop the old connection and look for a new one.

Hmm ok.

Can your AirPort tell you what channel the other visible wireless networks are on? Typical channels might be 1, 6, or 11. Maybe zingerella's router could be configured to use a channel that is far from the other networks' channels.

Grammarian is broadcasting on channel 11 (I have iStumbler). There are a few other networks broadcasting on that channel, including Linsys, but our is the strongest, by rather a lot, from anywhere I've been in the house. I'm not sure how to configure it to broadcast elsewhere, but I can try.

Your network is called "Grammarian"? I love you SO MUCH right now.

(Ours is called Edinburgh, since our network is at home.)

It really does raise the question of why we can't laugh conservatives out of the public discourse. Why do they get traction for patently idiotic shit like this and that ridiculous-ass "soy makes you gay" thing from a while back?

I know part of the answer to that, yes. It still makes me steam-from-the-ears angry.

"code word" is the new "contraction"

I don't know, man. Those hordes of Vampyres recruiting innocent 12 year-olds by the truckload gave me a rigorous grin.

But just in case, I've nailed my hockey sticks into a crucifix and I'm now off to buy a pound of garlic.

Er, you know. Just in case.

there may be hidden networks which are causing interference. iirc you're on a mac; download istumbler to see them (http://www.istumbler.net/) and then pick the least busy network :)

That was really fucking hilarious, but it would be a lot funnier if it weren't so depressing and kind of scary.

They pulled the story.
I, however, grabbed a copy of it for my LJ.
