I don't think I've ever read anything johncwright has written, but apparently he is a giant douchebag. However, his incoherent (this man is a published writer? I need to finish my novel faster) post on the depravity of gay sex and political correctness, is full of comedy gold. His spluttering defense of bigotry is a trainwreck from which I cannot pull my eyes away.

It may be time for me to resume my lurking in the right-wing blogosphere. I've been away for awhile, but I'd forgotten how much fun it can be.

In other news, I still want to punch the entire U.S. healthcare debate in the face. liz_marcs is more constructive and is calling for your healthcare experiences. Americans here,, durty furrigners here.

EDIT: Mr. Wright could not handle the criticism and bahleeted comments. Post of epic hilarity wherein he refers to non-bigots as "Jacobin zealots." Now require "Jacobin zealot" icon/t-shirt/tag/whatever, although admittedly it's not as good as "Kantian nihilist."

not to be dismissive simply because he's a randian drone but reading that short story a couple entries down, he writes similarly to how i did in the 7th grade and clearly his ideas aren't terribly brilliant... monkeys and typewriters and such.

I was watching a live stream of the health care town hall meeting for a senator from Pennsylvania and it really stuck me, the mobs and opposition basically have absolutely nothing to do with actual opposition to health care reform. It was a civil meeting, but most of the people making comments hostile to the democratic senator and his support to any health care reform ended up in rants against the wall street bailout plan , the stimulus plan and fanciful fears that we are "spending or future away" or going in to "debt slavery" for our childern.


Since the economy has gone down in flames last fall, people have had little relief to vent their anger, there was the revlot against the bailout bonuses in the spring, but writing strongly worded letters to congress people isn't really satisfying and there was the tea-baggers, but they only appeal to hard-core right fanatics.

So I can actually sympathize with some of these people, not the ones bringing guns to town hall meetings and holding "Obama = Hitler" signs (they'd be out there anyway). But the one ones who still pretty pissed off and might be susceptible to demagoguery.

People have lost their homes, their manufacturing jobs that aren't coming back and are trying to understand a incomprehensible health care reform process that even most of the congress people don't understand that much. So I can understand their IRL concern trolling at meetings.

But still, a lot of those fuckers are crazy, I don't what rock they crawled out from under, but I wish they'd go back to wherever they came from.

Just some thoughts.

I'm wondering if the failing economy has just made everyone go nuts and then the Republicans rounded up all of the crazy people and brought them to these meetings.

Are town hall meetings common in the U.S.? I don't think I've heard of them happening this frequently in recent history.

That said, I never heard about him until reading yesterday that he ismarried to some woman who claims her friends didn't know they were an interracial couple becausethat's how much racism doesn't matter anymore. Daniel Hannan is a British Conservative MEP, instrumental in the European delegation of that party's cosying up to the likes of the homophobic and antisemitic Michal Kaminski of the Polish Law and Justice Party, and more recently infamous for condemning Britain's national health service on Glenn Beck's Faux News show. Needless to say Hannan has become something of a poster-boy for British economic "libertarians" despite being a hardline social conservative in the Thatcher/Tebbit mould.

Oh what the hell. GIYF. You'll soon see where I'm coming from re Mr Hannan.

That's not the worst thing he's written, IMHO. I could tell you more, but not in an unlocked entry. Sorry.

I will however tell you a bit more about him that is public knowledge. He used to be a Libertarian atheist lawyer who was basically "born again" as a Christian asshole a couple of years ago. Maybe still a Libertarian, not sure (I guess "asshole" includes the subset of "all Libertarians" so probably).

I don't know how popular his books are with fans but not a few science fiction writers refuse to associate with him.

Apparently, his wife just got in trouble a few days ago at Worldcon in Montreal, during one of the panels on race and science fiction, though it's unclear what her actual comments were (all second-hand to me). I guess that can't be blamed on him, but, suffice to say, more than a few people who have been actively boycotting Wright's work are now also boycotting hers.
