A massive earthquake in Haïti has left thousands dead. Since bcholmes is in the Toronto Haiti Action Committee and just got back from there, I dashed over to her LJ to see who she'd suggested donating to if you want to help.

Canadians: Médecins sans Frontières (a.k.a. Doctor's without Borders) (I donate pretty regularly to them anyway.)

Americans: Partners in Health or Médecins sans Frontières.

Earthquakes may be a natural, unstoppable phenomenon, but their effects are made more devastating by poverty and lack of infrastructure, a situation for which we in North America bear a large amount of responsibility.

At any rate, please do what you can. I will too.

I'm pretty depressed over this, it's kinda like the damn tsunami or Katrina were it's just going to take from people who had nothing in the first place. But it's not about me, so I should STFU about my privileged whining. I hope I hadvesomething to donate, maybe some non-perishable food?
