1. "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore," Phil Ochs

Does this song need an explanation? I don't think this song needs an explanation, beyond me stating the obvious: It is one of the very best anti-war songs ever written.

2. "Idumea," Current 93

This is an amazing album. Haunting, melancholic, musically rich and complex, including several variations on a theme, of which this is the best one.

3. "It Can't Rain All the Time," Jane Siberry

Ignore the cheesy video—this is a fantastic song by a fantastic artist. It makes me smile wistfully when I'm depressed.

4. "I'll Shoot the Moon," Tom Waits

Such a romantic and dysfunctional little song.

5. "I Don't Feel So Well," Vienna Teng

Vienna Teng sums up exactly why I can't maintain a long-term relationship.
