I can't seem to remember to write 2011 on anything. It isn't just that it's January and I have this problem every single year. It's that it's 2011 and there's still a monarchy* and I don't have robots that do my laundry for me.

ETA: I showed zingerella Steampunk Palin and she retaliated with an incredibly WTF production of Purcell's The Fairy Queen. (Warning: bunnies, Uncanny Valley, furry, your brain can probably not handle it, and it's certainly NSFW.)

* Several, in fact, but one in particular annoys me.

I don't understand who the creators of Steampunk Palin are trying to appeal to...

Steampunks are far too debonair to ever consider voting for someone like Palin much less reading a comic about her.

And Palin groupies... where would they have ever encountered the concept of steampunk? Certainly not in a book, becuase they've never encountered that concept either.

They're going after a) people who buy everything that says "Steampunk" on it and b) anything that has a sexualized image of Sarah Palin on it. I think someone took a random story generator and grabbed the first two marketable items. We're lucky - it could have been Twilight Tea Party instead. Sociopathic shirtless teenagers who can't spell and hate immigrants, Obama and taxation.

I forgot there was still a monarchy, despite having a dream about it the other night!
It doesn't bother me as much as almost everything else in the world does.
although it has been scary here since the evil new government appeared - people I thought were long dead have been creeping out of the woodwork with right wing views and weird old fashioned shit that I thought had vanished. Clearly it was just hiding while it was out of fashion, but now feels safe to rear its head again. Eeky. So maybe the monarchy needs to be abolished to get the message across to conservatives everywhere that they are not wanted. Sigh.
