Brace yourselves: A new Cheatsheet of Freedom is coming

Thanks to culpster, I just learned that Atlas Shrugged Pt. II is finally available in a form that I can watch without any money going to anyone involved with making this thing.

Man, it's been forever since I've done a Cheatsheet of Freedom. They're pretty time-consuming, but, I, in theory, have a lot of time these days.

If you're new to my LJ, Cheatsheet of Freedom is where I watch movies (or read books, in one case) so that you don't have to. I just read that recap and I'm very confused. I decided to read the Wiki page and I'm still confused.

Someone on my flist told me I should read the book but I already have trouble finding enough time to read all the books I actually want to read, let alone books I don't want to read. Is the movie similar to the book? Because that way I can just read your recaps (thank you for being so brave and doing this for us!).

I've never read the book, because to be honest, it's terribly written and life is too short to be reading dull, politically abhorrent crap like that. I did read We the Living, which I actually liked at the time, but her prose is just atrocious. In fairness, English was not her first language, but I'm not actually inclined to be fair.

It's my understanding that the movie follows the book in a more or less religious way, which makes sense because Randroids are cultists.

Hilariously, I came across this on Cracked.com recently, wherein (at #4 in particular) it is claimed that Iron Man 2 is basically a reworking of Atlas Shrugged. It makes what sounds like pretty reasonable arguments for its case, too, at least from the perspective who has never watched nor read Atlas Shrugged, lol. I've been meaning to tell you about it so there you go. *Grin*

I like to think that Iron Man is basically a parody of that sort of thing. I mean, Tony Stark is supposed to be a fuck-up. The more fucked up he is, the more I enjoy him.

(Then again, I <3 Rorschach too, and he's Moore's interpretation of an Ayn Rand hero.)

I hear they fired all the old actors and replaced them with new, prettier, but not necessarily more talented ones! Unfortunately, they didn't fire Ayn Rand and replace her with Matt Ruff.
