Still no interwebs at home (we're looking at about two weeks before I'm back online), but from what I gather:

Commandante Ramona and Irving Layton are dead.
Ariel Sharon is still alive.

Life isn't fair.

(More later: I have a lot of posts to read through.)

Yes, but not very alive.

Here is a picture of a Rutabaga, which for situations like this is the Iconic Root Vegetable:

All I ever wanted was sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads. Thanks for making my dreams come true. :`(

I'm not sure being "alive" at this point will end up being of any great comfort to him. I can think of no more appropriate way for him to while away his remaining years or decades on this earth than in quiet incapacitation, thinking about what he's done, while his aides wipe drool from his chin and shit from his diapers. i think that would be grand.

I personally would like to see Pinochet put on trial for the whole world to see and then get convicted and sentenced to serve time in jail with every other "common criminal" in Chile. I think it would be a good final humiliation before he suffers a hirrible, horrible death after slipping and crakcing his skull open while showering in jail.

I feel the same way about most of the Bush Administration. I have this hope that one day i will turn on NPR and hear the heart attack that kills Dick Cheney has come a'callin'. That would be grand. *crosses fingers and whispers "Impeachment, impeachment, impeachment", in a mantra of frustration*

If Sharon is considered alive I think I'd rather be dead.

Yeah. Bummer to all of it.
As for Pinochet, the Bush andmin, Sharon and the like: heart attacks, strokes and comas (oh MY!) are much too easy. But hell, I thought Reagan got off too easy. "House of a Thousand Corpses"... that's more what I'm thinking.

What do you think about the whole "Delegate Zero" thing??

I hope he regains just enough cognitive ability to be aware of what's going on around him, and be totally frustrated at how helpless and incapable he is.

I hope that if, by some miracle there will be some moves towards a more-or-less just resolution to the conflict, he will be around to watch impotently from his nursing home as everything he has worked for all his life is unpicked.

I hope he has a returned Palestinian refugee as his nursemaid for the final months of his life.

Wait, when are they dead?

Also, I wonder if we're going to do with Ariel Sharon what we did with Yasser Arafat: "He's dead!" "No, he's not!" "Well, yes, he is!" "No, he isn't!" "Aw, shucks, I think he really is, this time"
