For those of you who haven't seen it, there's a new Gaybortion!: Robots!
For those of you who still want more giggles, read
anarchists.
Also, I took more pictures of the neighbourhood cats but I'm not posting them yet. And I spilled coffee all over myself. That's it for news.
EDIT: Okay, onto the serious stuff. I've seen some good posts about HR 4437 and the protests in LA lately.
dobrovolets has a fantastic post here. Go read it, please.
I should add that, while the ruling class tends to create all sorts of useless and stupid laws, the most reprehensible of these have to do with borders and immigration. Drawing an imaginary line across some land that you've claimed as your own and then dictating that certain people don't have the right to cross it? It's simply anti-human.

Date: 2006-03-28 05:39 pm (UTC)What difference does it make if they don't give me my liberties? I won't give up asking for them but I'll get used to living on less than citizens of this country who have the same education as me. Fear won't persuade me to go back to Turkey (it hasn't yet.) And they won't change anyone else's mind from seeking opportunities in this country either.
I'm more in despair about the immigration laws in Australia and Europe. Womera is a bleeding wound on world's conscience. An the chunnel is a grinder of human straw.
I'm much more

Date: 2006-03-28 05:45 pm (UTC)Here, they are deporting a bunch of Portugese construction workers, many of whom have been here for years. It's sick. And that only really makes the news because they're white-ish and they've lived here for a long time and have ties to the city. Other immigrants don't even get media coverage.

Date: 2006-03-28 10:49 pm (UTC)I never thought much about the drawing a line and saying certain people can't cross it. But while I'm not in favor of getting rid of government completely, my ideas of what it should be are infinitely different than what they are now.

Date: 2006-03-29 01:20 am (UTC)I think some functions of government are necessary. Whether eliminating the unnecessary ones would radically alter our systems of social organization to the point where a "government" can still be called a "government" is an entirely different story.
