When I first moved to Toronto and lived in a house with 11 other people, we pretty much lived on Mr. Noodles. I've since upgraded to the yummy Korean version, but instant ramen is basically the best food ever.

R.I.P.

wow. we've recently re-introduced ramen into our household, mainly the healthy, whole wheat or rice noodles with miso kind, but still, yum. Back when we were younger and busier and crazier, we bought cases of Top Ramen regularly ( they'd end up costing about 25 cents each)...we'd toss the flavor packet and add miso.

Various versions of ramen are my comfort food of choice. Even if I do usually ditch teh flavouring and use a sauce from my pantry (and veges and etc, if I have them).

Yeah, weirdly they're comfort food though their main association is broke-ness and I really did get tired of them in college. And of course they're devoid of neutritional value. But once in a while, they undeniably hit the spot.

So true. Every so often, I am in the mood for Ramen. It's rare, but it happens.

I know for a fact that students of mine whose families have trouble making ends meet, regularly survive on ramen. Especially if they have colds.

Ramen++

Oh no!

I buy ramen when it's 10 for a dollar at Safeway.

Lazy academics? Hah! How about students on a limited budget who need to save up beer money? That sounds properly industrious to me.

Mr. Noodles is gross, far too greasy. Better to go for the genuine imported brands, they can be even cheaper than Mr. Noodles (at least out here on the Pacific coast).

Look out for Ramen cookbooks! They are out there, and can give you some good recipe ideas.
