So you have an election, and now we're going to have an election*, and I'm going to have that thing every year where I get all crusty about the NDP and then working for them anyway**. In the meantime, you can make everyone's day by participating in a decision-making process that your vote can actually influence.
That's right, people. Send
gillen to Forks, WA. You know it'll be hilarious and he can eat BELLASAGNA and we can all have lolz.
Do it! Do it now!
UPDATE: Comrade
gillen has suggested that I am displaying Forksist tendencies. So while you are over there voting, make sure to denounce him for his lack of commitment to Sparkle Motion.
ANOTHER UPDATE: I take it back. Comrade
gillen is committed to Sparkle Motion after all, and deserves a commendation from the Party.
* Where should I flee to if Harper gets a majority? Venezuela again?
** Maybe not. Seeing as I'm in Layton's riding, I might vote for the Marxist-Leninists like I threaten to every year.

Date: 2008-09-07 03:46 pm (UTC)1) Federal, in which my riding's former BC-Liberal MLA Lorne Mayencourt will be running as a (retch) Conservative against Hedy Fry along with NDP candidate Michael Byers. The federal riding includes not only the downtown but chunks of Kitsilano, South Granville and Fairview, which gives every party a chance basically.
2) Provincial byelection, in which candidates in Vancouver-Burrard (entire downtown riding) square off to replace Lorne Mayencourt. The BC Liberals recruited Arthur Griffiths who used to own the Canucks, and the NDP has the young, awesome, adorable Spencer Herbert (http://www.spencerherbert.ca/ - every gay man in Vancouver is hoping his relationship is not a monogamous one). The old grandmothers look at him and think "Aw, he's the grandson I always wanted. I'll vote for him."
3) Municipal election, in which our mayor Sam Sullivan was turfed by his party (it's really weird having municipal political parties, I think), so another guy is running against him, and the leftier party is running Gregor Robertson.
4) Provincial election in May 2009, in which Arthur and Spencer will be squaring off *again*, but this time the riding shrinks to only the West End, so that teh gheys are much more concentrated in the mix of votes... but I won't be in the riding anymore. I'll be grouped with the seniors on the other side of False Creek.
Vancouver's going to be a political gong show through next spring...

I wonder if Obama could take mccain in a wrastling match. I have a feeling Palin might kick ol' Biden's ass. She's in pretty good shape!

Date: 2008-09-07 06:04 pm (UTC)I think Obama could take McCain, who would last approximately 72 seconds in an Obama headlock. Palin could physically win but if Biden got one punch in, she'd cry foul.
