Timey-wimey cake
Nov. 10th, 2013 01:25 pmSo who wants to see Doctor Who themed baking? I mean, most of you, obviously.
Look what
lienne,
cupric_acetate, and I baked.

Isn't it magnificent?

We were going to attempt to write "cake" in Gallifreyan on the top but we settled for shiny balls.

Oh, it was actually tasty, by the way. Gingerbread cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting.

Alas, eating the chocolates themselves presents a bit of a challenge.

Bonus non-timey-wimey cupcake.
So, yeah. That happened. I'm looking for a solution to make TARDIS and Dalek chocolates that aren't quite so dense for the Inevitable 50th Anniversary Theme Party, so any (easy) ideas would be most welcome. At the moment we're thinking cake interior. Though the other option is Jelly Babies inside the TARDISes and calamari inside the Daleks. That might be gross, though.

Date: 2013-11-11 02:14 am (UTC)I don't know a lot about chocolate making. Is there a way to make the tardises and daleks hollow?

Date: 2013-11-11 02:26 am (UTC)I love these, by the way! I'm not that into Doctor Who these days (though Peter Capaldi might change my mind) but these are awesome.

Date: 2013-11-14 02:09 am (UTC)Hmm. I don't know what the moulds are made of, but could one melt a nice cheese into the shells, then make little cheese Daleks one might float in say a nice tomato soup? One could use a white outer cheese (say a nice Swiss or Emmenthal) and have something darker like a medium or aged cheddar in the middle, so all the orange gooey bits started floating around the soup after a while. Hee!
Dang, now I'm hungry. XD

Date: 2013-11-11 02:20 pm (UTC)I wonder if just kind of dropping the silver balls into the interior of the chocolates would work? Or in general "fill chocolate with small crunchy things". It seems maybe easier to accomplish than filling them with tiny slices of cake. But idk.
